A hotel product is successful because the technology stack functions with the realities of the hotel business: fragmented integrations, mobile-intensive guest journeys, operational staff needs, multi-property complexity, and the continued expectation that the technology is just going to work.

When evaluating a hospitality software development company, you should not only ask what front-end or back-end frameworks they prefer. You should also ask if their recommended stack has the ability to support PMS integrations, sync with Booking Engines, Payment flows, Analytics, Admin Workflows, as well as Supportability at scale. In the case of Hospitalit,y if the wrong stack is chosen, the stack usually does not fail on the first day, but rather at a later date when integrations are no longer functioning reliably, reports become inaccurate, te and staff members have to work around the technology instead of exploiting the technology.

At Appricotsoft, we prefer to use Pragmatic Architecture as opposed to Trendy Architecture. This fits the way our team works: build software we can be proud of, create transparent processes, and focus on creating solutions that solve actual operations, not just solutions that will look good in a presentation. Our company focuses on Quality, Responsibility, and Clarity in Delivery. Your team needs to find the guest’s path through services and integrations when they are unable to complete their request or a property reports inconsistent booking data.

Thus, we advise you to implement structured logging, metrics, and traces from the beginning. OpenTelemetry is a great example of a vendor-neutral solution for generating, collecting, and exporting telemetry such as traces, metrics, and logs.

Good observability in hospitality software gives you the answers to these questions:

Did the action taken by the guest succeed?

If it failed, where did the failure happen?

Was the problem with the application, backend, integration or vendor?

Is this a one-time issue or is it consistent across properties?

Is the retry happening as expected?

A practical observability stack is typically built with:

Structured logs with correlation IDs

Metrics for applications and infrastructure

Distributed tracing for requests across multiple services

Alerts for failures that are critical to the business

Dashboards for integration health

This becomes especially important when working with PMS integration services, booking flows, and hotel payment integration.
